Throughout the long episode, Cam discussed why his problems with Dame seem to have been established “from the beginning,” and if he believes there’s a possibility for them to make amends. He also shared why his and Ma$e’s effort to purchase Dame’s one-third stake in Roc-A-Fella Records didn’t come to fruition. Before covering all of this, Cam presented the second part of his interview with Lance “Un” Rivera, who coincidentally had his own story about Dame to share.
Without any more delay, here are seven key points from the episode. Enjoy the insights below and watch the video.here!
1. An account of where things went wrong between him and JAY-Z
As previously mentioned, Un led the first half of the episode to conclude his interview with Cam’ron. Around 20 minutes in, he addressed where things went wrong between him and Hov, which, as it turns out, had some involvement from Cam. “I remember it clearly,” Cam said, before recounting a time when Dash entered the studio and everyone essentially said “f**k you to Dame.”
“I felt awful after talking to Dame,” Cam’ron admitted. As Un later explained, someone had to be held responsible. “I was blamed for that situation between you and Dame,” he said. “If I hadn’t been blamed, they wouldn’t have come to see me.” He added that theRoc-A-FellaThe co-founder exited the studio in anger and came back later that night along with JAY-Z, Biggs, and Ty Ty. As reported by Un, “There were 100 incidents similar to this.”
2. MC Shan offers some advice to Dame Dash regarding his dentures
Later, MC Shan provided some “expert dental tips” for Dash regarding his dentures. “I’m tired of every time you make a motherf***ing video, you’re holding your teeth like this — in and s*** — and n***as tag me in that s***,” the “The Bridge” rapper said, then humorously suggested denture adhesive strips. “You might as well take [your dentures] out if that’s what you have to do, but I know you don’t want to, so get yourself some of these.”
3. Cam’ron explaining why he was upset when Un mentioned Dipset’s Verzuz showdown against The LOX
Elsewhere in the episode, Sen City praised Cam’ron for how he managed his interview with Un. Still, he admitted to being curious about whether Un brought upThe LOX versus Dipset Verzuz showdown— when questioned about the rapper’sConfessions of Firealbum titled “The Art of Dialogue” — rubbed him the wrong way.
The reason I took it as an insult was because it wasn’t focused on the Verzuz. They asked you about the album, and you just brought up the Verzuz,” Cam’ron explained. “We all know The LOX beat us at the Verzuz, which is okay.” The “Hey Ma” artist continued, “If there’s anyone I’m not upset losing to, it was them guys, but to me, it was pointless. It was like, ‘Yo, where did the Verzuz mention come from?’ All he was asking you about wasConfessions of Fire.”
4. Cam’ron on why his rift with Dame Dash seems like “a major setup”
“I don’t even feel right going back and forth with Dame. This stuff is just ridiculous,” Cam’ron said, explaining why he thought their conflict was basically a setup “from the beginning.” He explained that it all began when he allowed 50 Cent to pat him on the hip at the UnitedMasters’ SelectCon event last year.
He said, ‘Me and 50 are going through something on the internet right now. Do you mind if I bring it up and say he was patting your pockets?'” Cam recalled. Naturally, Dash took some artistic freedom with the details: “Dame gets on the blog and says, ‘Yeah, and this n**ga Cam let 50 Cent smack him on the a**,’ not the pat-pat club, not the pockets.
5. Cam’ron on Dame Dash’s response to him putting aside differences with JAY-Z
Speaking of Dash, Cam’ron remembered when JAY-Z introduced him during the2019 B-Sides concert, ultimately ending their long-standing rivalry. For most individuals, that would have been a reason to rejoice, particularly since the two had exchanged barbs on “You Gotta Love It” and “Dig a Hole.” However, not for Dash
I thought it was cool that the n**gas could put their differences aside and do a concert,” Cam’ron explained, noting that Dash had just apologized to Hov earlier that year, so he figured everything was fine. “Dame makes it a joke because JAY-Z still isn’t returning calls,” he added, referring to Dash calling them the “bow-tie twins.
6. Cam’ron regarding whether he and Ma$e were genuinely thinking about purchasing Dame Dash’s stake in Roc-A-Fella
As some may remember, Dash faced a default judgment in a defamation lawsuit that required him to pay filmmaker Josh Webber a massive $4 million. In addition, he had to pay an extra $800,000 to Webber and theDear FrankMovie executives, after losing the film rights, saw a brother in need, so Ma$e proposed to divide a $1 million buyout of Dame’s Roc-A-Fella Records share with Cam’ron.
I called Dame. I said, ‘Hey, Ma$e wants to assist.’ We had a million,” Cam remembered. Dash, however, supposedly declined the offer, claiming YoungBoy Never Broke Again had offered $2 million. “We were like, ‘Okay, cool. We just wanted to get you out of the news for looking bad.'” Cam then mentioned that Dame returned “three weeks” later, but by that time, Ma$e had lost interest: “The deal is off.
7. Cam’ron on if he’s willing to put aside his rivalry with Dame Dash
Lastly, Cam’ron was asked if he could ever see himself andDashFinding common ground despite everything that has occurred. He responded sarcastically, “Yeah, absolutely. Meet me in the middle of the Red Sea, and I’ll be waiting for you n**ga.” It’s safe to say we’ll get to enjoy their exchange for a little while longer.
