How to Release the Shape in Dead By Daylight
-
Is the Shape a Suitable DBD Killer for New Players?
The first officially authorized Killer to arrive inDead by Daylight, The Shape – more commonly known asMichael Myers– is a merciless murderer with a sinister fixation. Tracking victims from a distance, The Shape can gradually intensify his aggression by following his targets before making his move. This unyielding chase is what makes The Shape so frightening, as he eliminates players individually.
This Dead by Daylight the guide will emphasize some of the top configurations for players to userun on The Shape. This also encompasses both teachable and non-teachable benefits for players with different levels of expertise, ensuring they can maximize their experience while playing as this dark character.
Revised on August 25, 2025, by Mark Sammut: We’ve gone through the best Myers DBD builds, but are they truly worth mastering? In skilled hands, every Killer can be dangerous (or at least enjoyable), and The Shape is no different. That being said, is he a good choice for new players taking their first steps into DBD?
The Form: Top Non-Teachable Composition (2025)
Without being able to enjoy the benefits of othersKillers in Dead by Daylight, playing The Shape can result in a difficult challenge, but not an insurmountable one. This strategy utilizes Save the Best for Last to reduce chase durations while employing Sloppy Butcher to gradually slow the game. Ultimately, Bitter Murmur and Hex: No One Escapes Death enable the Killer to eliminate any remaining players during the final stage, without having to immediately pursue Survivors for a kill.
- Save the Best for Last (The Shape)– Striking a Survivor who is not the Obsession earns one token, with a maximum of eight. Each token provides a -4% cooldown reduction on a successful basic attack, up to a maximum of 32%. When the Obsession is hit, this ability loses two tokens.
- Hex: No One Evades Death (General Perk)– Once the last generator is finished, all Survivors are affected by the Exposed status condition, and players receive a 4% Haste bonus until the Hex Totem is purified.
- Bitter Murmur (General Perk) – Every time a generator is finished, the auras of Survivors within 16 meters of it become visible for 5 seconds. When the final generator is completed, all Survivors’ auras are shown for 10 seconds.
- Sloppy Butcher (General Perk) – Fundamental attacks result in the Mangled and Hemorrhage status effects, reducing healing efficiency by 25% and reversing healing progress if not completed.
The Form: Top Construction (2025)
This configuration emphasizes hindering the generator completion process through multiple advantages, while providing a strong start to the game. Since The Shape has limited movement across the map, it is the least effective killer during the early stages. The Shape’s strategy should involve protecting a group of nearby generators, monitoring their progress, and eliminating them using The Artist’s Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance and The Cenobite’s Deadlock.
In the meantime, The Nemesis’s Lethal Pursuer allows The Shape to rapidly locate Survivors and track them, providing a solid beginning for the least powerful killer in the early game. Ultimately, Coup de Grâce helps The Shape perform more effectively in situations where he would typically have difficulty.
- Lethal Pursuer (The Nemesis)– At the beginning of the match, observe the aura of all Survivors for nine seconds. Also, all instances of aura-reading are extended by two seconds.
- Scourge Hook: Pain Resonance (The Artist)– The Killer begins with four tokens. For every unique Survivor who is attached to a white Scourge Hook, you lose one token and detonate the generator that has advanced the most, resulting in a 25% loss of progress.
- Deadlock (The Cenobite) – Upon completion of a generator, the one with the highest progress is blocked for 25 seconds. This blocked generator is indicated by a white aura.
- Final Blow (The Twins)– For every generator finished, this benefit receives two tokens. Spend one token to boost the lunge attack range by 80%.
The Form: Top Enhancements (2025)
Memorial Flower
The top Michael Myers accessory at the common rarity level is definitely the Memorial Flower. Although this accessory isn’t particularly impressive, the11% increased stalking rateis a welcome addition to The Shape’s slow movement speed.
Dead Rabbit
While this macabre offering to The Entitymay appear to be a poor exchange, the Dead Rabbit’sreduction of the Terror Radius by 25%In Evil Within II, it is very useful. However, because it also expands the Terror Radius in Evil Within III, it is advised to use this add-on with a perk such as Monitor and Abuse, or another perk that modifies the Terror Radius, to prevent alerting Survivors too soon.
J. Myers Memorial
This is The Shape’s second-best enhancement as it provides a flat25% increase in his rate of stalking earnings. It is frequently combined with the Tombstone Piece to reduce the adverse effect of requiring more time to access Evil Within III.
Hair Bow
The Hair Bow is an excellent enhancement to boost the threat level of The Shape, which occurs in Evil Within III. Combining this with the J. Myers Memorial add-on is a reliable method to apply continuous pressure on the map through multiple Evil Within III triggers.
Tombstone Piece
Arguably the strongest expansion for The Shape, the Tombstone Piece enables Michael toimmediately kill any Survivor, irrespective of their hook status, upon arriving at Evil Within III – essentially operating likean old Memento Mori.
This powerful skill can rapidly shift the outcome of a game and surpasses the Ultra Rare Judith’s Tombstone add-on by eliminating the speed penalty that comes with it.
Lock Of Hair
A Lock of Hair extends the gameplay of Evil Within III by 40 extra seconds, which is 10 seconds more than the Hair Bow, while also boosting the stalking speed in Evil Within III. The Hair Bow is typically the preferred choice, but the Lock of Hair remains a suitable option for players who choose to use Lethal Pursuer and J. Myers Memorial.
Fragrant Tuft of Hair
Although the stalking rate of The Shape is decreased by an impressive 200%, this add-ongrants infinite Evil Within III. Therefore, you will never need to concern yourself with handling your energy, and you can instantly defeat Survivors without having to track them first.
How to Release the Shape in Dead By Daylight
As Dead by DaylightThe first officially licensed character, The Shape established the benchmark for subsequent DLC characters that are derived from other franchises. Owing to his age and legendary status, both as a film character and as part of the broader cultural landscape,DBDThe history of Michael Myers makes him one of the most popular killers; for a while, it seemed like everyone had him. However, as more DLC characters were introduced and new players joined the expanding community, Myers may have slightly dropped in popularity, especially since he isn’t considered one of the top killers.
If you are somewhat new toDead by Daylightand are interested in trying out the original movie slasher Killer, you will need to spend money to buy some Auric Cells. As with all licensed characters, The Shape cannot be acquired using Iridescent Shards. Assuming he is not on sale, which is common enough,Michael Myers can be obtained by spending 500 Auric Cells., which costs $4.99.
Alternatively, You can purchase “Chapter 2: Halloween Chapter” for $7.99., giving you access to The Shape and Laurie Strode (as a Survivor), along with three cosmetic items for the latter. Laurie is arguably abetter SurvivorThan Myers is a Killer, and the chapters are less expensive than purchasing both characters separately. That being said, if you’re only interested in The Shape, a standalone purchase is more logical (especially when the Killer is on sale).
Is the Shape a Suitable Dead by Daylight Killer for New Players?
As Dead by DaylightOne of the first licensed killers and one of the most renowned movie villains ever, Michael Myers should be an obvious choice for new players. If a beginner chooses to overlook all online meta conversations and selects a few of their preferred DLC characters, they are likely to seriously consider The Shape, simply because ofHalloweenHis popularity. Also, Myers is simply cool.
However, is The Shape actually a good choice for those new to the game? Is he competitive? Can he be used to grasp the basics? Well, the answer is somewhat yes and no. Michael Myers is essentially a typical M1 Killer, meaning his standard attack is how he deals damage. Characters like this are usually good for beginners, as they are simple and help teach the fundamentals, such as pursuing and circling. So, in theory, Myers should be a good option for newcomers.
However, Myers is somewhat, well, flawed. He is one of those Killers who can be easily taken advantage of by Survivors who are skilled, andDBDdoes not make an effort to match new players with one another. As a result, you may end up playing with individuals who have a basic understanding of how to exploit Myers’ slow movement and repetitive style of play. Although he has undergone updates over the years, The Shape still seems like a relic from a different time, unable to adapt to today’s gameplay trends.
No, Myers is not a good choice for beginners wanting to learn the game. Instead, choose The Wraith, especially since this Killer is available at no cost.
