NHL Network

The television channel is frequently used as the overflow channel when matches go into extra time and the second game needs to begin on schedule.

Similar to other major sports networks, the NHL Network will broadcast “NHL Tonight,” featuring highlights and live updates on ongoing evening games. Frequently, the network will tune into the third period of later NHL games at 11 p.m. or midnight before switching back to studio programming. Once the hockey games are over, the network will air the half-hour highlights program “On the Fly,” which will be repeated throughout the following morning. Afterward, the network will show 1- or 2-hour game replays during the afternoon of the next day.

On Saturday evenings, the NHL Network will broadcast “Hockey Central” at 6:30 p.m., serving as the pregame program for “Hockey Night in Canada,” although U.S. viewers might not always receive the following HNIC broadcast.
