Following Tom’s injury during the filming of Spider-Man, production was briefly halted to give him time to heal. Emergency medical personnel arrived on set before Tom was transported to the hospital. The production of Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the fourth movie in the Multi Cinematic Universe, is estimated to have cost $200 million.
A source revealed to the Daily Mail that there are significant expenses involved in halting production, including the necessity of paying the cast, which also features Zendaya, during this period, along with extra lodging costs due to longer stays. An insider stated, “It’s a challenge for any production to stop filming, but for a film on this scale, it will be a major issue for the producers and studio.”
The crew must still be compensated during the delay, and there are additional expenses related to the secondary location to take into account. Although health and safety remain the top priority, all individuals involved in the production are eager to resume filming as soon as possible.
Film director Emeka Egbuonu stated, “With a production like Spider-Man, which has a $200 million budget, the daily expenses are very high. When you include the cast, crew, set locations, equipment, and the entire logistical system needed to run a big movie, each day of filming can range from $1.5 to $2 million.”
The issue is that even if filming stops, many of these expenses remain – the crew must still be compensated, sets require upkeep, and equipment stays on rent,” Emeka stated, adding that it constitutes a “major financial blow to the studio and increases pressure on schedules and deadlines.
A representative from the East of England Ambulance Service previously stated, “We received a call at 10:30 am on Friday to assist a patient with an injury. An ambulance was dispatched to the location, and the individual was taken to the hospital for additional treatment.”
During an interview with ComplexRegarding the movie, Tom stated, “It has been a very enjoyable experience in creating the film.” In contrast to other films, Tom has also shown greater involvement behind the scenes and collaborated with the producers to translate the audience’s desires onto the screen.
