We evaluated Unger’s 12-inch stainless steel window squeegee and discovered it effectively removes water and glass cleaner from mirrors, windows, and ceramic tile without causing streaks. It included a smooth, flat rubber blade that was already attached, along with an extra replacement blade.
We completely covered a mirror with glass cleaner and then used the Unger squeegee to remove the solution, moving from top to bottom while overlapping each pass by approximately one inch. The squeegee did not create any streaks or drips. We also tried the Unger squeegee on windows and ceramic shower tiles, and it efficiently removed water from every surface.
The squeegee with a steel handle is compatible with an Unger extension pole, although we didn’t have one available. Instead, we inserted a universal wooden pole into the handle, and it fit securely. One disadvantage is that a screwdriver is required to replace the rubber blade. Although this doesn’t impact the squeegee’s effective water removal, it means users must locate a screwdriver when they need to change the blade.

Ettore’s compact 8-inch silicone blade offers good value, providing a secure seal against windows and effectively removing water. It is intended to work with an Ettore extension pole (sold separately), but we found that a standard extension pole fit well into the handle without any slippage. We also used the squeegee head on its own for smaller tasks and cleaning windows, mirrors, and shower tiles. The 8-inch blade, which is narrower than some other models, made it easier to navigate tight spaces around shower faucets.
This budget-friendly squeegee includes a durable plastic handle, an aluminum frame, and a silicone blade that leaves no streaks. It is lightweight and requires minimal storage space.shower caddyor in a drawer. Although we were somewhat disappointed that the blade cannot be replaced, the flexible blade is crafted from premium silicone and is expected to endure for many years.

This is our first experience with a squeegee vacuum, and we were somewhat doubtful at first. However, after cleaning a few windows, we became convinced. The vacuum feature on the Karcher squeegee effectively removes the water and cleaning solution that would otherwise drip down onto the window sill or run down the wall, causing unattractive stains. Normally, when using a squeegee for windows, we rely on paper towels to absorb the water at the bottom, but with the Karcher, there were no puddles.
The Karcher features an internal battery and a charging unit. It also contains a glass-cleaning solution, a spray bottle, and a pad that attaches to the sprayer for removing dirt prior to using the 11-inch rubber blade. We filled the spray bottle, placed the pad on top, and scrubbed the window surface before employing the vacuum squeegee to remove the excess solution. The vacuum picked up all the water, while the silicone blade provided a spotless finish.
One drawback is the weight. The Karcher vacuum squeegee weighs 1.68 pounds when empty, making it feel somewhat heavy after picking up a few more ounces of water and cleaning solution. However, the solution tank can be quickly removed for easy disposal. The squeegee did not include an extra rubber blade, but replacement options are available through the manufacturer.

No longer need to wobble on a ladder to clean high windows. One of the main reasons two-story homes often have less-than-spotless windows is because they are simply too hard to reach. We’ve cleaned our fair share of upper windows using spray cleaner and newspapers—essentially a risky balancing act on a ladder—so we were thrilled to try Eversprout’s 10-inch squeegee and scrubber combination that included an extendable 18-foot pole.
The pole and squeegee head combined weigh 2.1 pounds, and the pole features soft rubber handles, which make it simpler to grip firmly. The head also includes a rubber grip for stable hand-held operation. We appreciated the convenient adjustment levers—simply lift the lever, adjust the handle length, and then press the lever back down to secure the pole in place. A button on the head enabled us to rotate the head’s angle, which made cleaning a high window near a big pine tree easier—we could stand beside the window and still reach it with the squeegee.
We applied a glass-cleaning solution to the soft scrubbing pad and used it to clean the windows, then flipped the squeegee and used the flexible silicone blade to remove the solution. It performed effectively, although we encountered a few faint streaks, mainly due to the difficulty of maintaining even pressure while using the squeegee from that distance. Nonetheless, this technique is certainly better than cleaning windows from a ladder. The only drawback is that while the Eversprout blade can be replaced, an additional one is not provided.

Anyone who has ever felt annoyed while manually cleaning the side panels of an entry door or narrow transom windows might find this 6-inch Ettore squeegee useful. We have used the compact tool to clean mirrors, tiles, and small windows, and now we are enthusiastic supporters. Its small size and light weight (under 3 ounces) make it easy to handle and convenient to store in a drawer, car trunk, or on a hook in the garage.
We applied glass-cleaning solution to the surfaces and then used the Ettore squeegee to remove the excess, resulting in a flawless, streak-free appearance. We also cleaned our tile backsplash with this compact squeegee, which was significantly more convenient and efficient than bending over the countertop to scrub and then dry the backsplash.
This small squeegee doesn’t come with extra features, but it is compatible with an Ettore extension pole (not included); we discovered it also fits securely on our regular wooden pole. It’s a shame this model doesn’t have a replaceable blade.

The premium rubber blade and wide squeegee head of the Unger ErgoTec Ninja squeegee enabled us to clean big windows and mirrors efficiently. We noticed that it only took two or three passes to eliminate all the cleaning solution from large windows—this is quick, and fewer passes result in a lower risk of streaks. We used it on both indoor and outdoor windows, including those on our vehicles, and we were satisfied with the outcomes.
The Unger ErgoTec Ninja features a non-slip grip and is compatible with an Unger extension pole (not included), although we managed to attach it to our regular wooden pole, which provided a tight fit. Although the squeegee handle can rotate, it only secures in the vertical position. This model includes a replaceable blade, though extra blades need to be bought individually.

A magnetic squeegee that cleans windows from both sides at the same time? Although this idea seems appealing in theory, in reality, theTyroler Bright Tools Glider Window Scraperdidn’t meet expectations. However, if Tyroler returns to the design process and makes some adjustments, this creative product could have a bright future. This squeegee is available in two magnetic parts that match and is meant to adhere to both sides of a glass window and then be moved using only the section on the inside.
We adhered to the guidelines, moistened the microfiber cloths intended to cover both areas, and appliedglass-cleaning solutionOutside the window, we tested the Glider on a casement window that could be opened from the inside, allowing us to go around and secure the outer parts. The tool comes with a safety string designed to catch the outdoor unit if it falls—and it did fall repeatedly. We couldn’t move the squeegee more than a few inches before the outer section dropped. We tried the D3 model, which was said to function on double-paned windows up to 1.1 inches thick. It didn’t work. The magnets weren’t strong enough to keep the two parts connected.
We then transitioned to a single-pane window located on a shop door. In this location, we were able to move the Glider without it falling, but it wasn’t very effective at removing water without leaving streaks. Nevertheless, we appreciate the concept of a magnetic squeegee, particularly as a method for cleaning windows when accessing the outside is unsafe. We hope Tyroler continues to enhance this tool and look forward to testing it again in the future.

How We Evaluated the Top Window Squeegees
We examined over 20 different window squeegees prior to choosing a range of styles and sizes for evaluation. We took the brand into account—Unger and Ettore are both recognized within the field. However, we did not automatically rule out squeegees from smaller or specialized brands if they possessed features we deemed beneficial and if users had positive opinions about them.
While conducting tests, we applied interior window and mirror cleaning solutions and then used squeegees to remove the liquid. We observed how effectively the flexible blade removed the water and if it resulted in any streaks. Additionally, we recorded the weight and the comfort level of holding the handle.
Outside, we sprayed water on car and house windows using a hose, then used squeegees to wipe away the water. If the tool included an extra scrubbing pad, we moistened it and used it to clean the glass before employing the squeegee part. We evaluated extension poles to determine how simple they were to extend and if they drooped when fully stretched.
Throughout, we assigned scores using a scoring system that evaluated each tool’s quality, functionality, and features. The more effectively a squeegee worked, the higher the score it received. Following the tests, we totaled the scores and used them to classify the squeegees based on their optimal applications.
Things to Think About When Selecting a Window Squeegee
Squeegees are available in different styles, ranging from compact handheld versions for use in the shower to extended-handled models that can access the upper parts of high windows. The most effective window squeegee forms a tight seal against the glass to eliminate water orcleaning solutionentirely with every motion. Models that scrub and squeegee provide dual advantages and are very practical for individuals with many windows to clean.
Blade
A squeegee blade is a flexible silicone or rubber strip that is inserted into a groove on the top part of the tool. Many squeegees (though not all) feature blades that can be replaced. With use, or due to an accident, the blade may become bent, stiff, or damaged, which affects its flat surface and reduces its effectiveness in removing water. If the blade is replaceable, it typically takes only a short amount of time to take out the old one and put in a new one.
Some people favor silicone blades over rubber ones, while others have the opposite preference, but both types perform effectively and are commonly used in premium squeegees by professionals. The main concern isn’t necessarily the type of material, but rather whether the blade is made with high-quality rubber or silicone. Lower quality versions of these materials are more prone to becoming brittle or cracking.
Channel
The squeegee’s channel is a groove that holds the blade in place. Usually, the channel consists of a metal rod with a rubber or silicone blade already attached. To change it, the user removes the old channel and blade from the squeegee’s head and inserts a new one. Earlier models of squeegees typically had integrated channels, allowing the user to cut a suitable length of rubber from a roll to match the channel. Although these models are still on the market, they are not as commonly used nowadays.
Handle
The length of the handle influences the type of task a squeegee is most suitable for. Short handles (less than 12 inches from the end of the handle to the blade) are most convenient for cleaning typical first-floor indoor windows, as well as vehicle windows and windshields. However, outdoor windows may be too high to reach with a short handle, and using a step ladder to do the job is not safe. The ideal choice for cleaning outdoor windows is an extendable pole.
Some window wipers include long extension poles, whereas others have threads inside the handle that enable their use with compatible poles. Be mindful of the total weight when purchasing extra-long poles. The heavier the pole, the more challenging and tiring it will be to clean high windows.
Additional Features
Most window squeegees are straightforward—just a handle and a flexible blade designed to remove water from glass. However, some models include additional features that can be useful, such as microfiber scrubbing pads on the opposite side of the squeegee head for cleaning dirt or smudges before using the blade to wipe away the water. We also evaluated various other features, including a magnetic squeegee and one that suctioned up the water as we moved the squeegee across the glass.
Suggestions for Employing Window Scrapers
Forget about that roll of paper towels—it’s more likely to create smudges than a window squeegee. Typically, users should opt for a liquid, such as water from a hose, glass cleaner, or a bucket of soapy water, and wipe the glass first if there is visible dirt or smears. After that, they can use the squeegee by positioning the flexible blade in a top corner of the window and pulling straight down. They can then repeat this motion across the entire window. Check out these additionaltips for windowsthat will appear thoroughly cleaned.
- Use a blade scraper to eliminate built-up residue or other debris before cleaning.
- Place an old towel at the bottom of indoor windows and mirrors to collect cleaning solution.
- Overlap each previous squeegee path when removing water to prevent streaks from forming.
FAQs
Window squeegees efficiently eliminate water and cleaning agents from glass and tiles, often making the task faster and simpler. Individuals who are just discovering the advantages of window squeegees might have several additional questions.
Simply rinse the tool using fresh water to eliminate any remaining cleaning agent, and then dry it thoroughly before keeping it with other home tools like brooms and mops. Exposure to freezing temperatures could reduce the durability of the flexible blade, so it’s recommended to store it inside whenever possible.
Squeezing the shower following every use can prevent water stains and minimize the chances of mold and mildew development.
Squeegees featuring either rubber or silicone blades are both popular choices among professional window cleaners. They tend to favor premium blades over inexpensive alternatives, though.
