This fall, MSC Cruises, the third-largest cruise company in the world, is adding another U.S. sailing port. MSC Seascape, the ship named “Best Cruise Ship for Families Overall” by Forbes Vetted, will exclusively sail from Galveston, Texas, year-round starting in November 2025.

“MSC Seascape was designed with families in mind, offering one of the largest dedicated kids’ spaces in our fleet, innovative tech-driven experiences, and a lineup of immersive games and entertainment that set a new standard at sea,” said Antony James, Family Entertainment Operations Manager, MSC Cruises.

Who is MSC Cruises?

For travelers unfamiliar with MSC, it is a global cruise brand with 23 ships traveling across five continents, more than 100 countries, and over 300 destinations. Relatively new to the American vacation market, this family-owned line began offering U.S. cruises in 1998 and has gained popularity in North America over the past few years. Recently, MSC Cruises was named one of Travel + Leisure Readers’ 5 Favorite Large-ship Ocean Cruise Lines of 2025.

Who is MSC a Match For?

If you’re looking for a family vacation, are budget-conscious, yet seek higher-end experiences, then take a serious look at MSC Cruises.

“It’s a budget-friendly line with competitive fares. Its ships are likely to be among the lowest-priced you’ll see when you’re searching for a cruise. Most of MSC’s ships in the U.S. are relatively new, having launched within the past five years, and built specifically for the American market. So while there’s certainly a European flair onboard, you’ll still have all the creature comforts of home,” explains Colleen McDaniel, Editor-in-Chief of Cruise Critic.

If you enjoy vibrant nightlife, you’ll enjoy a vacation on MSC. Its award-winning nightlife stands out from other cruise lines.

“There aren’t many lines where, when the clubs and bars wind down, the party continues deep into the night. MSC has mastered the fun nightlife. Whether it’s a 70s theme night with the entertainment team dressed like the Village People, live DJs in the main promenade, or a White Night Party with live music on the main pool deck, there is always something going on an MSC ship,” explains Cruise Critic Editors.

MSC offers free childcare for children until 11 pm or midnight for tweens and teens, allowing parents to enjoy the nighttime activities.

My Family Loved Our MSC Experience

My seven-year-old daughter had a blast in the Juniors Club, asked to return day after day, and wanted to stay longer to play with other kids her age. After learning that their goal is not just to make the kids happy, but also to surprise them, be the best, and be unique, I suppose I shouldn’t have been surprised by how much she loved not just the kids’ club but our entire Spring Break cruise on MSC Seashore.
