Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce Announce Engagement
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have officially taken their relationship to the next level, announcing their engagement on social media. The couple shared a heartfelt post on Instagram, captioned: “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.” The image captures Kelce, a tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs, kneeling in front of Swift in what appears to be a garden setting. Additional photos shared by Swift include glimpses of the same garden and a close-up of a stunning ring on her finger — one that is far from a simple paper ring.
According to reports, the ring features an “Old Mine brilliant cut” and was designed by Kindred Lubeck of Artifex Fine Jewelry. While details about when the engagement occurred remain unclear, fans have been quick to notice that Swift was not wearing the ring during her recent appearance on the “New Heights” podcast hosted by Kelce and his brother, Jason.
The couple has been together since 2023, following Kelce’s attendance at one of Swift’s shows during her “Eras Tour.” On the “New Heights” podcast, Kelce shared how he attempted to connect with Swift by making friendship bracelets, including one with his phone number — not his jersey number. Though his initial efforts didn’t yield results, they eventually led to a romantic connection.
In September 2023, Swift was spotted attending a Chiefs game against the Chicago Bears, marking what appeared to be their first public outing together. Swift later confirmed to Time Magazine that they had begun dating after Kelce expressed a desire to meet her on his podcast. She humorously noted that some fans might have mistaken their first date for the game, but she emphasized that it was not the case.
Since then, their relationship has grown steadily. Kelce has attended numerous of Swift’s concerts, while she has made appearances at nearly all of his games, including two Super Bowl events. Kelce has often spoken about how much he enjoys being a fan of Swift’s music and how special it is to have her support him on the football field.
“I get to go and be that fan. Because I am a fan. I’m a fan of music. I’m a fan of art,” Kelce said in an interview with GQ. “And it’s so cool that I get to experience her being that plus one for me on the football field. … I feel that same enjoyment every time she comes to my shows.”
Despite their fame, Kelce described their relationship as surprisingly normal. He mentioned that when they’re not under the spotlight, they simply feel like two people in love. Their bond has also captured the attention of the NFL, which initially posted a congratulatory message on X before correcting itself after tagging the wrong account.
Kelce and Swift’s relationship was featured in the six-part ESPN documentary “The Kingdom,” which followed the Chiefs’ pursuit of a third consecutive Super Bowl title. At the premiere of the documentary, Kelce was joined by his parents, Donna and Ed, who praised Swift’s positive influence on their son.
“She’s very good for him. I don’t hesitate in saying that,” Ed Kelce said of his future daughter-in-law. “They are two people that truly deserve each other.”
Even former President Donald Trump, who has previously criticized Swift, offered his well-wishes for the couple. “I think [Kelce] is a great player, I think he’s a great guy, and I think that she’s a terrific person, so I wish them a lot of luck,” he told reporters.
